Distribution: central and Eastern Europe to southwestern Asia --- General Characteristics: A wood with a white color and a silky lustre --- Drying and Shrinkage: Air dries well but it can get stained. Kiln drying a low temperature is recommended --- Working Properties: The Sycamore works well with hand and machine tools --- Nailing, glues, stains and polishes - excellent --- Durability: Weak* - (*-makes reference to wood durability when exposed to rooting in wet environments) --- Uses: Used for musical instrument making, furniture, wood flooring and parquetry.
